Green Card Sponsorship Companies

Green Card Sponsorship Companies

Green Card sponsorship companies are U.S.-based employers that are willing to sponsor foreign nationals for permanent residency (Green Card) through employment. These companies file petitions with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to help their international employees get lawful permanent resident status, usually through employment-based immigration categories such as EB-2 or EB-3.

How Green Card Sponsorship Works

  1. Job Offer & Labor Certification (PERM):
    • The process starts with the employer offering a permanent, full-time job to a foreign national.
    • The employer must first get a Labor Certification (PERM) from the U.S. Department of Labor, proving that no qualified U.S. worker is available for the position at the prevailing wage.
  2. Filing Form I-140 (Immigrant Petition for Alien Worker):
    • Once PERM is approved, the employer files Form I-140 with USCIS to classify the worker under a certain employment-based category (EB-1, EB-2, or EB-3).
  3. Adjustment of Status or Consular Processing:
    • If the employee is already in the U.S., they may apply for Adjustment of Status (Form I-485).
    • If outside the U.S., they will go through Consular Processing to obtain their Green Card via a U.S. Embassy.

Who Qualifies for Sponsorship?

To be eligible for employer-sponsored Green Card, you typically need:

  • A job offer from a U.S. employer willing to sponsor you.
  • A specialized skill set, educational background, or experience.
  • A valid non-immigrant work visa (e.g., H-1B, L-1, TN) or be applying from outside the U.S.

Important Notes

  • Processing Times: Vary based on the employment category and your country of origin.
  • Costs: Usually borne by the employer (especially for PERM and I-140); however, applicants may pay for their own I-485 application.
  • Backlogs: Citizens of India and China may face longer wait times due to per-country quotas.
