Presley Gerber, the only son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessperson Rande Gerber who is a model, died at the age of 27. According to the records of the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, he died on Sunday, 20 September 2026, while he was in a rehabilitation centre in Los Angeles. The autopsy has not yet been carried out and no official cause of death has been given.
A spokesperson for the Crawford–Gerber family has confirmed the news and issued a short statement on behalf of Cindy, Rande and Presley’s sister, Kaia Gerber, saying that “the family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time.”
A Early Start in Fashion and Beyond
Presley Gerber, who was born in California in 1999, grew up in the public eye yet established his own career in the fashion industry. He made his first appearance on a runway at the age of 16 at Moschino’s Resort 2017 show in Los Angeles and soon became a regular feature on international runways. He then walked for a number of well-known brands such as Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana, Bottega Veneta, Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren, and took part in advertising campaigns for Calvin Klein, Celine, Pepsi and Omega.
He was signed by DNA Model Management in 2019, the same agency that represents his sister, and at the same time acted as an investor and entrepreneur, as stated in his agency’s biography. Gerber’s public appearances went beyond modeling, since he frequently took part in fashion launches and brand events with his family, for example at the RE/DONE x Kaia Gerber “Short/Cuts” launch in May 2026.
Open About Mental Health and Addiction
In recent years Gerber has been open about his problems with his mental health and the fact that he takes prescribed medication. When he appeared on a podcast in 2023 he stated that mental health is “such a big part of my life” and that he wished to use his platform to increase awareness of the issue. He started an “Mental Health Mondays” campaign and collaborated with various non-profit organisations, one of them being the homelessness charity in Los Angeles called A Sense of Home.

In the weeks leading up to his death, Kaia Gerber talked about her brother’s ten-year battle with addiction in the September 2026 cover story of American Vogue.
“When something like that occurs in a family,it has a way of affecting all of them,” she said, stressing that she usually saw herself as “the easy one” and was unwilling to ask for help.
Kaia said that Presley had altered the way her family discussed pain and vulnerability.
“My parents were always extremely private and never shared anything — whereas now we have this complete role model in my brother, who states that ‘I’m going to be very human for everyone,’ ” she told Vogue.
In July Crawford celebrated Presley Gerber’s 27th birthday on Facebook with a moving message saying, “Happy birthday, Presley Gerber. I’m so proud of the man you’ve become, but I’ll always see you as my little boy!”
Tributes Pour In
As the news became more widely known, friends and other public figures expressed their sympathies. The socialite and reality television personality Paris Hilton posted on her Instagram Stories stating that she was “completely heartbroken”, describing Gerber as “such a beautiful soul…so sweet, sensitive, kind and genuine”.
“I cared about you a great deal and I’ll miss you more than I can say”, Hilton wrote.
In the coming days the fashion and entertainment sectors are going to pay their respects to Gerber, although his family is still grieving in private.
